Academic success and school attendance go hand in hand.
It is important that students attend school everyday. If a student is absent for any reason, the parent must bring or email a written note to the attendance clerk (512-414-3571) within 10 days of the absence. A note from a doctor may be required.
In accordance with the Texas Public School Law, AISD attendance policy states that a student must be in attendance 90% of opportunities in order to get credit for classes taken. Students with less than 90% attendance may request an appeal to the grade level administrator for an attendance committee review. If a student completes a credit recovery program, the committee can clear absences.
Should attendance become a problem, a legal case is filed against the student and family for violating the Compulsory Attendance Law.
