News from the Principal

Dear Maverick Nation,

As the Principal of Consuelo Mendez Middle School, I am proud to announce our initiatives for the 2017-2018 school year.

First, we have implemented an innovative curriculum delivery model called SIM in every classroom that will help students be successful in learning the academic vocabulary, content and skills needed in the courses they are taking at Mendez.

We have a nationally recognized Green STEM Academy program that encompasses both core academic work and electives in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) focused on environmental stewardship and service to the Dove Springs community. This year we are focused on building STEM Literacy for all students.

Our Athletics Department is preparing students for city-wide competitions where they are sure to achieve recognition. Our Fine Arts Department offers students the opportunity to perform for a variety of audiences and participate in UIL competitions where our students have earned Superior scores.

At Mendez, there is a place for every student to pursue his or her interests, and we welcome you to join us on our journey to make this a great year!
